Breaking the cycle...together

WesTCORE is a collaborative organization of non-profit organizations, faith based groups, government agencies, and concerned citizens united to address the prisoner re-entry problem in West Tennessee.

Thousands of men and women are released from prison each year in West Tennessee.  We spend up to $100 a day to keep them in prison and near nothing to try to keep them out.  It is no surprise that 50% will return to prison within three years of release.

Together we can break the cycle.

Areas of Focus

Transitional Housing

Some prisoners are released back to their home or to live with a friend or family member.  While the ultimate goal is to have the ex-offender living on their own and off of public assistance, some need help getting there.  We want to make sure that every prisoner wanting help in this area gets it.

Support/ Counseling

Offenders need help dealing with the emotional and phyiscal barriers that keep them in the cycle of imprisonment.  Families of prisoners also need support throughout the time of incarceration and the transition back home.

Job Readiness

A good job is one of the most important factors in being able to make it on the outside.  Employment is consistently one of the most challenging areas for felons.  With the deck stacked against them, we need to be able to help train them in job readiness, assist them in placement, and provide support for their continued success.
